A pretty good movie, I was really rooting for it. It did seem to be trying a little too hard to be odd though, or did it not try hard enough. I think with someone like Tim Burton, he could have pushed the edge further and made it incredibly odd.I think in it's intention to be sweet, it missed it's opportunity to become a real classic. With all the right ingredients, good idea, acting, dialogue, this movie should be great, but it's missing something.
James McAvoy is a really good actor and I hope to see more from him.
***Spoilers***
The ending bothered me. I know they couldn't do the normal: he falls in love with her even with the pig nose story, but having her become “normal” and falling in love seemed awkward too. The Ugly duckling story seemed too forced and would have been improved with her having to deal with life without the fame and attention that she had received for being odd.
